How can I get my connection back?

Some read the writings of St. John of the Cross and, I think, St Theresa who say they have been through it. I haven't read them because I have felt the lessons you learn always take you to greater love and joy. Temporary states are not to dwell on wondering what's making life worse, but to look for the light shining in each cloud that lets us realize it's perfect.
